Important to know
- Ambulances are not free in most states - but never let cost stop you calling 000. Ask a settlement service later about ambulance cover.
- Police in Australia are there to help everyone, whatever your visa status. Reporting a crime will not normally affect your visa.
- Family violence is against the law, and confidential help is available regardless of your visa.

What if I can't explain my emergency in English?
Say the name of your language clearly ("Arabic", "Dari", "Mandarin") and stay on the line. Emergency services will bring in an interpreter.
