Dubbo Regional - Area Guide
Dubbo Regional Council is the primary hub of the Orana region, covering the city of Dubbo and the town of Wellington.
With major health, education and transport infrastructure – and an official regional settlement program – it’s where most new migrants to the region begin.
What the council offers residents
- Macquarie Regional Library branches in Dubbo and Wellington - free internet, printing and programs
- Dubbo Regional Aquatic and sporting centres, parks and playgrounds
- Western Plains Cultural Centre - gallery, museum and community events
- Community grants, citizenship ceremonies and multicultural events including the Dubbo multicultural festival
Living here
Dubbo has the region’s base hospital, TAFE NSW and a Charles Sturt University campus, major schools, and real transport links: daily XPT trains and coaches to Sydney and a regional airport. Settlement services and multicultural support groups operate here – the strongest in the region.
Worth knowing
Taronga Western Plains Zoo and the Wellington Caves are on your doorstep – and Dubbo’s growing multicultural community means you’ll likely find familiar food and faces sooner than you expect.
